Participants in the International Space Summit in Paris agree on the importance of the peaceful and safe use of outer space

Paris, September 10 (KUNA) -- The countries participating in the International Space Summit announced on Thursday that their shared goal is to ensure the peaceful, safe, stable, and sustainable use of outer space for the benefit of all humanity. The Elysee Palace, the French presidential residence, stated in a communiqué that the participating countries and entities reaffirmed the importance of full commitment to and compliance with the 1967 Outer Space Treaty. The statement added that the participating countries and entities “also emphasize the need for international coordination to enhance transparency and clarity in relevant policies, guidelines, and recommendations through various existing forums and initiatives, in order to effectively address and promote the safety and sustainability of space activities as a whole.” The statement noted that these countries and entities “support a gradual, practical, and pragmatic approach to dealing with international space issues, based on dialogue and transparency, and reaffirm the importance of ensuring the long-term sustainability of outer space activities.” Kuwait participated in the International Space Summit, which began on Wednesday in the French capital, Paris, and lasted for two days. Co-organized by France and Germany, the summit aimed to discuss the future of the space sector and enhance international cooperation in addressing its scientific, technological, economic, and environmental challenges. The Kuwaiti delegation at the summit was led by Dr. Amna Farhan, Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, and included Dr. Hala Al-Jassar, Director of the Kuwait National Center for Space Research, along with several leaders, officials, and representatives of space agencies, scientific institutions, and specialized companies from more than 90 countries. The summit addressed three main pillars: developing the global space economy through international cooperation; supporting progress in science, technology, and space exploration; and enhancing space security through dialogue and partnerships.
