Turkish Ministry of Defense calls on the international community to act to end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza Strip

Istanbul, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- Zeki Ak Turk, spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of Defense, expressed his concern on Thursday over the deteriorating humanitarian and living conditions in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to take action to end the suffering of Palestinians in the enclave.

Ak Turk, during his weekly press conference, stated that the Israeli occupation continues its systematic attacks on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, noting that it persists in forcing residents of the area to flee. He added that the number of people killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2 of last year has exceeded 4,000, while the number of injured has surpassed 12,000.

He continued, "As for Gaza, more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire came into effect, while the total number of those who have lost their lives since October 2023 stands at approximately 75,000."

He clarified that the World Food Programme has confirmed that two-thirds of Gaza’s population are facing hunger at critical or emergency levels. (End)
