President of the Football Association: The Association begins its duties to build a new headquarters and pitches for the Blue Academy with FIFA support
Kuwait City, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousif Al-Sabah, chairman of the board of directors of the Kuwait Football Association (KFA), announced on Thursday that the association has begun the process of obtaining the necessary licenses from the relevant authorities to construct a new headquarters and training pitches for the Azraq Academy, supported by a financial contribution of eight million US dollars from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) under the FIFA Forward program.
This statement followed a meeting between Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousif and FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss the latest sports developments, held at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousif stated that he discussed with Infantino general developments in football, as well as specific matters concerning the Kuwaiti Football Association. Among the outcomes was an agreement for the visit of FIFA’s Global Football Development Manager, French coach Arsène Wenger, to Kuwait to inaugurate the Azraq Academy next November.
He further noted that during the meeting, he highlighted that the association has commenced the procedures to secure the required permits from the Public Authority for Youth and Sports and the Kuwait Municipality to build the new KFA headquarters and the Azraq Academy facilities. (End) S.A.D./M.A.A.
