Arab Parliament Condemns Repeated Israeli Occupation Incursions into Syrian Territory

Cairo, September 10 (KUNA) -- The Arab Parliament condemned on Thursday the repeated incursions by the Israeli occupation into Syrian territory, deeming them a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity, as well as a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter. In a statement, the Parliament reiterated its firm rejection of these violations and escalatory practices, which pose a direct threat to Arab national security, and warned against the repercussions of their continuation on the security and stability of the region, including the risk of dangerous escalation, expansion of tensions, and undermining prospects for regional peace and security. It stressed that the continued Israeli occupation of Syrian lands constitutes a clear violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, and renewed its call for Israel’s complete withdrawal from all occupied Syrian territories and its compliance with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. The Arab Parliament reaffirmed its full solidarity with Syria and its steadfast support for its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity and unity. It called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, adopt a firm stance against the repeated violations by the Israeli occupation, compel Israel to respect international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, halt its violations, and prevent the escalation and widening of tensions in the region. Earlier, a unit of Israeli occupation forces had infiltrated the western countryside of Daraa, in parallel with incursions carried out over the past two days in the Quneitra countryside under aerial cover.
