London, September 10 (KUNA) -- The United Kingdom strongly condemned on Thursday the decision by the Houthi militia to resume the conflict in Yemen and its recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, including strikes targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities. In a statement, the British Foreign Office expressed sympathy for those injured and affected by the recent attacks, emphasizing its support for Saudi Arabia, regional partners, and the internationally recognized Yemeni government. It placed full responsibility for the renewed crisis on the Houthis, warning that their decision to restart the conflict poses risks to the lives of Yemenis, particularly exacerbating the humanitarian suffering of the most vulnerable and needy populations, and called on them to immediately halt this escalation. The statement warned that Houthi attacks threaten broader regional stability, particularly freedom of maritime navigation and vital trade routes through the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, while affirming the right of the Saudi and Yemeni governments to defend their security and sovereignty in accordance with international law. It noted that the United Kingdom is working with its partners to support regional stability, protect all civilians, ensure the delivery and support of humanitarian aid in Yemen. Earlier, Saudi authorities announced on Tuesday that more than 70 people were injured with varying degrees of severity and several civilian and state-owned oil facilities, including Abha Airport, were damaged in Houthi attacks carried out using missiles and drones.
