(Ministry of Interior): Local liquor factory seized in Jakhira on Abdali Road

Kuwait City, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Interior, through the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Kuwait City Criminal Investigation Department), announced the arrest of four Asian nationals for using a desert site on the Abdali Road as a base for the production, storage, and sale of locally brewed alcohol.

In a press statement on Wednesday, the Ministry said that investigative efforts led to identifying the location used by the suspects as a hub for brewing, storing, and selling local alcohol. Subsequently, the site was raided, resulting in the apprehension of three suspects caught in the act of production, while the fourth was arrested upon arriving at the site to purchase a quantity of local alcohol for resale.

The Ministry added that a search of the premises yielded 236 plastic bottles filled with local alcohol ready for sale, a large number of barrels, raw materials used in production, and a sum of money.

The three suspects admitted to using the site for the production, storage, and sale of local alcohol to avoid detection, while the fourth admitted to purchasing local alcohol for resale. It was also revealed that three of the suspects are wanted under arrest warrants, including one case involving fraud and deception. Necessary legal measures have been taken against the suspects, and coordination has been established with the Kuwait Municipality to demolish the illegal site. (End) H.M. / M.N.M.
