Kuwait City, 9 September (KUNA) — The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Khaled Al-Rashid, issued a decision today, Wednesday, regarding school working hours for kindergarten schools, general education schools, the credit-based system (tracks) schools, gifted students’ schools, special education schools, religious education schools, and private schools, in accordance with operational necessities.
In a statement, the Ministry of Education said the decision stipulates that school working hours for the aforementioned institutions will follow the schedule attached to each educational stage, effective from the start of the 2026/2027 academic year. Kindergarten hours will run from 7:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m., while primary school hours will be from 7:15 a.m. to 1:25 p.m.
The ministry added that middle school hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m., and high school hours will be from 7:45 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. High school students under the credit-based system (tracks) will have hours from 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., and gifted students’ schools will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.
The ministry clarified that the Special Education Schools Administration will prepare individual school schedules based on each school’s plan, ensuring that their start times do not precede the officially approved start times for general education schools across all stages.
It noted that the decision aligns with the Ministry of Education’s commitment to standardizing and organizing school working hours to suit the nature of different educational stages, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring orderly classes as the new academic year begins.
