Fars News Agency: Several explosions heard near Iran's Kharg Island

Tehran, Aug 8 (KUNA) – Iran’s Fars News Agency announced Tuesday evening that several explosions were heard around Iran’s Kharg Island. The agency stated that “multiple explosions were heard in the waters surrounding Kharg Island in the Gulf, but no signs of smoke or fire were observed in the area.” It added that “no official information has been released so far regarding the cause and source of these sounds, and details will be announced later.” The agency also noted that an explosion was heard in Jask, a city in Hormozgan Province in southern Iran. Quoting local sources, the agency reported that “the sounds originated from the sea near the Sank-e Siah area, and the explosion occurred in two stages with a short time interval.” (End) M.W. / R.J.
