UK Ministry of Defence: We will allocate £100 million for an air defense package for Ukraine

London, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- The UK Ministry of Defence announced on Tuesday that it will allocate £100 million ($135 million) for an air defense package for Ukraine, including air defense interceptor missiles, heavy-caliber artillery ammunition, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to help Kyiv repel Russian attacks during the winter. In a statement, the ministry said the contribution would be channeled through the NATO initiative known as the “Ukraine Priority Requirements List,” clarifying that the equipment would help Ukraine protect its critical national infrastructure, civilians, and armed forces from Russian attacks. The ministry reaffirmed Britain’s commitment to supplying Ukraine with more than 120,000 UAVs this year, noting that around 25,000 have already been delivered, with delivery rates set to increase before winter. It further indicated that the UK would deliver tens of thousands of long-range artillery shells to Ukraine in the coming months, funded jointly by the UK, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
