Arab Ministerial Committee on Jerusalem Discusses Developments in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

Cairo, Sept 7 (KUNA) -- The Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with mobilizing international action to confront Israel’s illegal policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem held its meeting today, Monday, under the chairmanship of Jordan, ahead of the launch of the 166th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level. The committee discussed developments in the international mobilization to confront Israel’s illegal policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem, safeguarding the historical and legal status quo in the city and its holy sites, amid ongoing violations and Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. The committee’s membership includes Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Qatar, Egypt, Morocco, and Iraq, in its capacity as host of the Arab Summit, and Bahrain, in its capacity as the non-permanent Arab member of the UN Security Council, in addition to Somalia, as a member of the Security Council, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League. The committee previously held a meeting in the Jordanian capital last August, with the participation of several Arab and Islamic countries, to explore ways to formulate a common position regarding these measures.
