President of the Arab Parliament Condemns Israeli Racist Statements on the Displacement of Palestinians
Cairo, Sept 6 (KUNA) -- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi strongly condemned today, Sunday, the “racist and dangerous” statements issued by two ministers in the Israeli occupation government regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip, warning against turning such calls into official policy or practical measures.
In a statement, Al-Yamahi said that the remarks by Defense Minister Israel Katz and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir clearly reveal a systematic project to uproot the Palestinian people from their land, liquidate their national cause, and impose a new demographic and geographic reality by force.
He considered that the forced displacement of the Palestinian people constitutes a war crime, a crime against humanity, and a fully constituted act of ethnic cleansing. He stressed that transforming these calls into official policy or practical measures necessitates urgent and deterrent international action, rather than merely issuing statements of condemnation and denunciation.
Al-Yamahi said that Gaza is not a land without a people, that the Palestinian people are not a people subject to expulsion, and that Palestine is not a land subject to uprooting and confiscation. He reiterated the Arab Parliament’s categorical rejection of any plans aimed at emptying the Gaza Strip of its residents or forcibly pushing them out of their land under any pretext or label.
He warned that the continued promotion by the occupation government of displacement plans, alongside settlement expansion, annexation, and seizure of Palestinian lands, represents an open attempt to redraw the map of Palestine by force and impose the occupation as a permanent reality, thereby threatening regional and international peace and security.
He called on the UN Security Council and the international community to assume their legal, political, and moral responsibilities and to take immediate and firm action to thwart any plans to displace the Palestinian people or alter the demographic composition of the occupied Palestinian territory, and to adopt deterrent international measures against the Israeli occupation and those responsible for these calls and plans.
He deplored the international silence in the face of such calls, which do not represent neutrality but rather encourage the occupation to persist in its crimes and undermine the international legal order. He considered that any attempt to implement this plan would place the international community before a decisive test of its commitment to international law and its ability to stop crimes of displacement and ethnic liquidation.
He reaffirmed that the Arab Parliament will continue its regional and international efforts to expose displacement plans and mobilize international parliamentary support to defend the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to self-determination and to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
