(SANTCOM): 92 commercial ships rerouted since the resumption of the US blockade on Iranian ports

Washington, June 9 (KUNA) -- The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had rerouted 92 commercial vessels since the resumption of the U.S. embargo on Iranian ports in mid-July last year. CENTCOM stated in a statement that, as of Sunday, U.S. forces had rerouted 92 commercial ships, halted three vessels, and inspected two others to ensure full compliance with the embargo on Iran, emphasizing that the U.S. Navy is enforcing the maritime embargo on Iranian ports “strictly.”

Earlier, CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stressed in a recent operational update that U.S. forces have not allowed Iran to export any oil from its coastlines since the embargo was resumed. Cooper underscored that the maritime embargo on Iran remains “active and strong” and is achieving its objectives, noting that no vessel has entered or departed from an Iranian port without U.S. forces’ permission, and that passage has been limited solely to humanitarian cases.
