Kuwait City, Sept. 6 (KUNA) -- September 6 ---------------- 1961 - Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, issued Law No. 25 of 1961 concerning the electoral system for members of the Constituent Assembly. Under this law, the country was divided into ten electoral districts, with each district electing two representatives, and the minimum age for a representative set at 30 years. 1962 - The opening of Kuwait's first embassy in Kenya. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mashari was appointed as Kuwait's first ambassador resident in Kenya on March 28, 1968. 1976 - Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, issued Decree No. 172 of 1976 forming the ninth cabinet in Kuwait's history, comprising 18 ministers headed by Crown Prince Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. 1976 - The Ministry of Planning replaced the Planning Council for the first time, with Mohammed Yousef Al-Adsani appointed as its minister. 1983 - The Kingdom of Bhutan opened an embassy in Kuwait. 1990 - The death of artist Yousef Dokhi at the age of 56. He was one of the pioneers of modern Kuwaiti music, the first to introduce female choirs in Arabic vocals, and adapted the Tamboura dance into Kuwaiti melodies. 1993 - Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued Law No. 41 of 1993, authorizing the Central Bank of Kuwait, on behalf of the state, to purchase debts owed to natural persons who are citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Kuwaiti clients, in exchange for issuing bonds guaranteed by the state, maturing within a period not exceeding 20 years. 1995 - Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued Law No. 88 of 1995 regarding the trial of ministers. The law's provisions apply to any minister concerning crimes related to state security, duties of public office, electoral law violations, obstruction of justice, and crimes under the law protecting public funds. 2000 - The Ministry of Health announced the success of the first surgery of its kind performed in Kuwait by Kuwaiti surgeons. The procedure involved repositioning the eye sockets, reducing the length of the skull, increasing its width, and repositioning the forehead bones of a Kuwaiti girl who was less than 18 months old. 2008 - The Asian Shooting Confederation announced that Kuwaiti shooter Nasser Al-Muqdad ranked first in Asia in trap shooting according to the general classification. 2021 - The Cabinet decided to approve the return of sports fans to stadiums starting from the new 2021/2022 sports season, subject to specific conditions, in compliance with measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
