German League: Bayern stumble against Schalke, while Dortmund and Leverkusen win
Berlin, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- Bundesliga title holders Bayern Munich drew 0-0 with hosts Schalke on Saturday, leaving the Bavarian side with just one point, while Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen secured valuable victories against Hoffenheim and Union Berlin, respectively.
Borussia Dortmund staged a thrilling comeback against Hoffenheim, winning 3-2. The home side took a two-goal lead in the 45th and 54th minutes, but Dortmund reduced the deficit in the 61st minute, equalized in the 66th, and scored a late winner in the 87th to claim their second victory of the new season.
Bayer Leverkusen recorded a convincing 4-1 win over Union Berlin, while Werder Bremen defeated RB Leipzig 3-1. Newcomer Elfsborg (Elversberg) edged Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-3 in an exciting match, and Freiburg beat Paderborn 1-0.
The second matchday began on Friday with Stuttgart’s 4-1 victory over Cologne.
With these results, Freiburg tops the table with six points, ahead of Dortmund and Elversberg on goal difference. (End)
