Russian President Orders Halt to Attacks on Kyiv for 3 Days Ahead of Talks with US Negotiators

Moscow, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- The Russian presidential administration (the Kremlin) announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a halt to attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, for three days starting from midnight Saturday, as part of preparations for communications with the envoys of U.S. President Donald Trump. The Russian news agency TASS quoted Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying that the suspension of strikes on Kyiv is linked to preparations for talks with the American envoys. Peskov clarified that Putin will hold talks today with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner, adding that the Kremlin will brief journalists on the outcomes of the meeting between the Russian president and the envoys. The spokesperson urged against speculation regarding ideas for resolving the conflict in Ukraine, stressing the need to wait until Putin meets with the American negotiators. He further noted that there are currently no discussions about new ideas to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, pointing out that U.S. President Trump himself had stated this. (End) Dan / T.M.A
