US Vice President: We will not talk to the Iranians unless they stop firing on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz

Washington, Sept 3 (KUNA) – U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance announced on Thursday that Washington will not return to negotiations with Iran unless Tehran stops targeting commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking at a press briefing at the White House, Vance said, “We are not holding talks with the Iranians. We will not speak with them unless they stop firing on commercial ships.” Regarding oil prices, the U.S. Vice President stated, “There are currently no major combat operations. There have not been such operations for a very long time. (...) What we are discussing here is an effort to maintain a basic balance in global energy markets.” The United States launched attacks on Iranian targets on Tuesday, saying they were in response to Iranian attempts to lay new mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
