Workshop under the (Gulf Green Mobility Forum) explores enhancing integration among Gulf ports

Muscat, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- A Gulf workshop held on the sidelines of the Second Gulf Green Mobility Forum today, Thursday, explored ways to establish and develop green corridors and enhance integration between Gulf ports and transport modes, in order to support the sustainability of the logistics sector and boost its efficiency.

The Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said in a statement that the workshop, organized in the city of Salalah, was attended by experts and representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It aimed to follow up on efforts and initiatives related to green corridors, and to exchange expertise and experiences among relevant stakeholders.

The ministry clarified that the workshop also sought to discuss opportunities for developing sustainable solutions for ports, maritime transport, and supply chains, contributing to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the efficiency of transport and logistics operations among GCC states.

It added that participants emphasized the importance of integration between ports and various transport modes, and coordination among competent authorities to develop more efficient and sustainable transport routes, alongside exchanging experiences and successful practices in reducing emissions and improving logistics operations efficiency, and working jointly to develop solutions and initiatives that support the transition toward a greener and more efficient transport sector.

The ministry noted that participants discussed several topics related to the establishment and development of green corridors for ports, including following up on the outcomes of previous workshops, reviewing progress achieved, and examining challenges and opportunities associated with implementing sustainable practices and technologies in port operations and related maritime transport.
