(Ministry of Interior): Four suspects arrested in two cases involving the smuggling and trafficking of narcotics
Kuwait City, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday the arrest of four suspects in two separate cases involving the importation, trafficking, and consumption of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
In a press statement, the General Administration of Security Relations and Media said that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Administration for Combating Narcotics, in coordination with the General Administration of Customs, arrested three suspects in a case concerning the importation of narcotics and psychotropic substances from abroad through a land border crossing with the intent to traffic them.
It explained that intelligence reports indicated that two of the suspects were responsible for bringing the seized items from abroad. They were apprehended immediately upon their entry, and upon confrontation with the investigative findings, they confessed that they intended to hand the substances over to a third suspect, who was arrested later.
The statement added that investigations revealed the suspects were in contact with an individual residing abroad to arrange the receipt and transportation of the drugs. It noted that coordination was established with relevant security authorities abroad to continue investigations regarding the other parties involved in the case.
The seized items included 300 tablets of Captagon, 150 grams of cocaine, 150 sheets of A4 drug, 10 grams of hashish, and a sensitive scale.
In a separate case, the Security Media Administration reported that the International Combating Department of the General Administration for Combating Narcotics arrested a suspect in possession of a quantity of narcotics and psychotropic substances intended for trafficking and personal use. The seized items included 90 sheets of A4 drug, 10 chemical ampoules, 30 grams of methamphetamine (shabu), and a sensitive scale.
It confirmed that the necessary legal procedures were taken against the suspects, and they along with the seized items were referred to the competent authorities. (End) A.J.R. / A.M.H.
