Ministry of Electricity hosts a delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority at Al-Wafra Power Station

Kuwait City, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy hosted a delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interconnection Authority at the Al-Wafra Power Station, as part of cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of expertise in the fields of electricity and the GCC power grid interconnection.

The ministry said in a press statement on Thursday that the visit included a field tour of the Al-Wafra station, during which the GCC delegation reviewed the nature of operations and the station’s operational systems, as well as its role within the GCC power interconnection framework and its contribution to supporting energy exchange operations and enhancing the reliability and stability of the interconnection system among GCC member states.

It added that the visit also aimed to support joint efforts to develop the GCC power interconnection system, improve its efficiency, and enhance its reliability.

The visiting delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer of the GCC Interconnection Authority, Engineer Ahmed Al-Ibrahim, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Networks, Engineer Mohammed Al-Sheikh. Also present were Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Deputy Director of the Energy Department in Abu Dhabi, and Issa Al-Zarouni, Vice President for Operations at Emirates Water and Electricity Company.

The delegation was received by the Assistant Undersecretary for Power Stations and Water Desalination Plants at the ministry, Engineer Haitham Al-Ali, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Monitoring, Control, and Supervision Centers, Engineer Fatima Jawhar Hayat, along with a number of ministry officials and engineers.
