Oman and Qatar discuss expanding economic and investment cooperation

Muscat, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- Oman and Qatar discussed opportunities to expand cooperation and joint investment in several priority economic sectors during a joint meeting held in Muscat on Thursday. The Omani News Agency reported that the meeting took place between Abdul Salam Al-Marsadi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, and Sheikh Faisal Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, with the attendance of Omani Minister of Energy and Minerals Salem Al Awfi and a number of officials from both countries. The agency stated that the two sides explored ways to build strategic partnerships between the Oman Investment Authority and its companies, and Qatari institutions and enterprises, in a manner that contributes to mutual interests and supports the economic diversification targets of the two brotherly countries. It added that they reviewed the potential and opportunities that can be developed across various priority sectors, particularly the logistics sector and land and maritime transport, alongside the exchange of expertise and experiences and the enhancement of communication between affiliated companies of both sides to identify executable projects and establish sustainable investment partnerships. According to the agency, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and joint efforts to explore further investment opportunities and leverage the competitive advantages and accumulated expertise of institutions and companies in both countries, thereby strengthening Omani-Qatari economic and investment ties and opening broader horizons for growth.
