Iraq: 15-year prison sentences for three convicted of targeting an international coalition base in Kirkuk

Baghdad, March 9 (KUNA) -- A court in Baghdad today handed down 15-year prison sentences to three individuals convicted of targeting a base for the international coalition forces in Kirkuk province on March 13. The Baghdad Criminal Court of Karkh sentenced Abbas Qasim, Mehdi Fares, and Abdullah Zain al-Abidin to 15 years in prison under the Anti-Terrorism Law for launching Katyusha rockets at Camp K1, which landed near the Anti-Terrorism Brigade and the French contingent of the international coalition in Kirkuk province.

Previously, the Iraqi judiciary issued two 15-year prison sentences two days ago for two convicts accused of targeting the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Additionally, a day earlier, it handed down a sentence of the same duration to a person convicted of kidnapping an American journalist in March last year. (End) A.H.H. / T.M.A.
