Egyptian President and Saudi Crown Prince discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues in a phone call

Cairo, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held a telephone conversation today, Thursday, with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and regional and international issues.

In a statement, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy said that during the call, President Sisi congratulated the Saudi Crown Prince on the upcoming Saudi National Day, expressing his wishes for continued stability and prosperity for the Kingdom under the wise leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appreciated these sentiments, emphasizing the fraternal and historical ties binding the two brotherly countries.

The spokesperson noted that the conversation covered all aspects of bilateral relations, with President Sisi stressing the importance of continuing to advance and strengthen various dimensions of bilateral cooperation to serve common interests and meet the aspirations of both countries and peoples for development, prosperity, and improved conditions in the region. He underscored the shared destiny between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to overcome challenges facing the region and its countries. In this regard, he also stressed that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all Arab countries constitutes an extension of Egypt’s national security.

The spokesperson added that the Saudi Crown Prince expressed his appreciation for the progress witnessed in Egypt-Saudi relations, commending the close coordination between the two countries to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East region and to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for progress and prosperity. He emphasized the importance of intensifying coordination between the two countries in various fields, including high-level visits.

The conversation also addressed several regional and international issues, with both sides stressing the necessity of de-escalating current regional tensions to preserve peace and stability in the region, given the repercussions of the current tensions on energy security, supply chains, and regional and international trade.
