Russian President: We are actively participating in investment and trade cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region

Moscow, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia is actively participating in investment and trade cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and is engaging with its partners in the region on an equal footing. This statement came during Putin’s address at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum, which opened on September 1 at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok and will continue until tomorrow, with representatives from government and economic sectors, experts, and international partners taking part.

Putin added that the development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic is linked to expanding capacities in resources, industry, logistics, energy, and transport, considering that strengthening these sectors forms the foundation for accelerated economic growth. He viewed the forum as a contributor to the sustainable development of the Far East and Arctic regions and to enhancing international cooperation, emphasizing that the Far East is experiencing rapid growth and that most of its regions are recording strong economic activity.

Putin pointed out that “our country aims to make navigation along the Northern Sea Route possible year-round, stressing that the route is designed to ensure the resilience and security of international supply chains amid risks threatening global navigation, shipping, and trade.” He clarified that Russia plans to connect seaports in the Arctic region with the railway network and inland waterways, thereby linking cargo flows from across Russia. He noted that major logistical infrastructure projects require substantial investments and that his country intends to attract foreign investors to implement them. (End) D.A.N. / M.Kh.
