Minister of Youth and Sports Emphasizes the Importance of Strengthening Gulf Cooperation to Develop Youth Capacities

Manama, Bahrain, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the youth and sports sectors, in order to develop young people’s capacities and strengthen their participation in the development process.
He made these remarks in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of his participation in the 39th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Youth and Sports, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the chairmanship of Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, with the participation of GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Bedaiwi.
Minister Al-Jalahma expressed his gratitude to the brotherly leadership, government, and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain for their generous hospitality and warm reception, praying to Almighty God that the path of excellence and success continues in the GCC member states.
He clarified that the meeting witnessed the adoption of the action plan of the GCC Ministers of Youth and Sports Committee for the period 2025–2030, along with the youth activities and programs scheduled for implementation in the coming years. He added that a partnership with the private sector was approved to invest in the youth sector, thereby enhancing young people’s skills and capacities across the GCC states.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Al-Jalahma honored several young individuals. The honors included the Al-Farsi paper airplane team in the community initiatives category, as well as Yusuf Al-Husseini and Zeina Al-Moina in the distinguished youth category, in recognition of their contributions and excellence in the youth sector.
Minister Al-Jalahma urged the honored individuals to continue their efforts and excellence, and to encourage their peers among young people to participate, take initiative, and contribute to serving their communities. (End) K.N.A. / M.A.A.
