(Russian Foreign Ministry): Germany will face a "harsh response" to its false accusations against Moscow

Moscow, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- The Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday affirmed that Germany would face a “harsh response” to its baseless accusations linking Moscow to the attack on Leipzig-Halle Airport in early August. In an official statement, the ministry said Berlin deliberately resorted to “explicit provocation” to escalate tensions with Russia, coinciding with the closure of the Russian General Consulate in Bonn and the tightening of entry procedures for Russian citizens into Germany.

The statement quoted Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Netchaev as saying that the closure of the Russian General Consulate in Bonn deprives Moscow of the opportunity to establish a polling station for the Russian State Duma elections on German soil. He added that Berlin “has no evidence” of Russia’s involvement in the Leipzig Airport incident, expressing Moscow’s displeasure with the “unfriendly steps” taken by Berlin.

The Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that Moscow had informed the German Chargé d’Affaires of its firm rejection of Berlin’s accusations regarding the drone incident, describing those allegations as “illogical.”

In the same context, the German Foreign Ministry announced that the closure of the Russian General Consulate in Bonn would become official on September 18, noting that Germany intends to tighten entry procedures for Russian citizens.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry, citing its embassy in The Hague, reported that the Dutch Foreign Ministry had provided no evidence of Moscow’s involvement in the Leipzig incident during the summons of the Russian ambassador. The embassy, according to RIA Novosti, stated that Russia rejects the Dutch Foreign Ministry’s accusations of involvement in the drone incident in Germany, affirming that they are “baseless.” The Russian embassy warned the Netherlands against taking any anti-Russian measures under the pretext of the German drone incident, urging Dutch authorities to acknowledge their share of responsibility for the current crisis due to their support for Ukraine.
