State of Kuwait condemns the reprehensible Iranian attack on the Saudi tanker (Sidr) as it transited the Strait of Hormuz

Kuwait City, 2 September (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the reprehensible Iranian attack on the Saudi tanker “Sadr” as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, and the resulting deaths of the tanker’s crew, which constitute a blatant violation of international law, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and to global energy supplies. In a statement issued today, Wednesday, the Ministry stressed the urgent need to immediately halt all escalatory actions and to adhere to the rules of international law that guarantee freedom of navigation, reaffirming Kuwait’s rejection of any attack on the security and safety of maritime navigation. The Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its brotherly nation, standing by its side and supporting all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security, and defend its interests.
