GCC Secretary-General Condemns Iran's Attack on Saudi Tanker (Sidr)

Riyadh, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Budaiwi expressed his strongest condemnation on Wednesday of Iran’s attack on the Saudi tanker Sadr as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in fatalities among the tanker’s crew. In a statement, Al-Budaiwi said that this Iranian attack constitutes a dangerous escalation and a serious violation of the principles of international law, posing a direct threat to the security and safety of international maritime navigation, thereby exposing the region’s security and stability and global trade movements to serious risks. He reaffirmed the Gulf Cooperation Council states’ support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures aimed at safeguarding its security and interests. (End) E.S. / T.M.A.
