(Wall Street) U.S. stocks fall after the United States launches new attacks on Iran

New York, August 1 (KUNA) -- U.S. stocks fell at the close on Tuesday evening on Wall Street, as concerns mounted following new U.S. attacks on Iran, rising oil prices, and inflation. The major indices closed lower, with the S&P 500 dropping 54.76 points, or 0.71 percent, the Nasdaq Composite falling 271.11 points, or 1.03 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declining 419.02 points, or 0.79 percent. The three main indices had ended last month on gains, with the S&P 500 rising 2.6 percent, the Nasdaq Composite gaining 3.9 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbing 1.3 percent, marking its fifth consecutive monthly gain.
