Kuwait Customs participates in the 18th meeting of the Executive Council of the Gulf Customs Union in Manama

Manama, January 1 (KUNA) -- Members of the Executive Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Customs Union Authority held their 18th meeting in the Kingdom of Bahrain on Tuesday, with the participation of heads and directors general of GCC customs authorities and departments, including the head of the Kuwaiti delegation, Yusuf Al-Nuaim, Director General of the General Customs Authority.

The meeting, chaired by Ahmed Al-Jamal, Chairman of the Executive Council of the GCC Customs Union Authority and Chairman of the General Customs Authority of Qatar, discussed a number of agenda items, foremost among them the latest developments regarding the completion of the requirements for the Customs Union.

The meeting also reviewed the work of specialized technical committees and working groups aimed at supporting the progress of GCC customs integration and enhancing coordination and joint cooperation among the member states. Additionally, it discussed a number of initiatives and projects designed to develop customs systems and procedures, improve the efficiency of joint operations, and facilitate intra-GCC trade flows and the movement of goods between member states, in line with their aspirations toward a more integrated and efficient GCC customs system.

The participation of the General Customs Authority comes within the context of Kuwait’s commitment to making an active contribution to the development of GCC customs operations and strengthening joint efforts aimed at completing the requirements of the Customs Union and achieving its desired objectives.
