Chinese President Arrives in Egypt for a State Visit

Cairo, Jan 1 (KUNA) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Cairo today, Tuesday, for a state visit, where he was received by his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. In a statement, Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, said that the welcoming ceremony at Cairo International Airport was marked by warmth, with a group of children and young people holding Egyptian and Chinese flags to greet the visiting president. The spokesperson added that a number of Egyptian and Chinese citizens gathered to express their goodwill and welcome toward President Xi Jinping, in a scene that reflected the depth of the historical ties between the two friendly peoples. The visit comes amid efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and China across various political, economic, and developmental fields, as well as to follow up on the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed between the two countries in 2014, and to consult on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
