(German Interior Ministry) announces deportation of 22 individuals to Afghanistan for committing serious crimes

Berlin, Sept 1 (KUNA) -- The German Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday the deportation of 22 Afghan nationals to their country after they had previously committed serious crimes in Germany. The ministry said in a statement that these individuals successfully left Germany on a chartered flight bound for the Afghan capital, Kabul. It added that since the new German government took office in May last year, the total number of Afghans deported by Germany to their country has risen to 250. The crimes attributed to those deported include murder, attempted murder, robbery, theft, extortion by violence, and serious physical assault. Last June, the German Interior Ministry announced its intention to expand deportation operations for convicted Afghans, noting the possibility of carrying out up to three deportation flights per month. The deportations are based on agreements with the Taliban, which currently rules Afghanistan, although the German government does not recognize the movement and maintains no diplomatic relations with it.
