Britain tests NATO's submarine rescue system and its operational capability worldwide

London, Jan 1 (KUNA) -- The Royal Air Force conducted a test today of the air transport capability of the NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) as part of an exercise aimed at demonstrating its ability to deploy and operate anywhere in the world. The British government stated in a press release that the NSRS, jointly owned by the United Kingdom, France, and Norway, was developed to be fully air-transportable, enabling global deployment to carry out rescue missions for disabled submarines on the seabed at depths of up to 610 meters. The release clarified that the exercise aimed to test the rapid response time required to transport the system, which includes 350 tons of specialized and unique equipment. It noted that a key element of the rapid response required for submarine emergencies involves transporting the system by road to the airport, with RAF Brize Norton serving as the airport used.
