Saudi Cabinet reaffirms continued support for OIC in achieving stability and peace

Jeddah, Jan 1 (KUNA) -- The Saudi Cabinet reaffirmed on Tuesday the Kingdom’s continued support for all efforts aimed at enhancing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s contribution to serving the causes of the Islamic world and realizing the aspirations of its peoples for stability and peace. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that this statement was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud in Jeddah.

SPA quoted Saudi Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari as saying in a statement after the meeting that the cabinet reviewed the outcomes of the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC Member States, which was recently held in Jeddah.

The cabinet commended the results of the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, including the agreement to establish a general secretariat headquartered in the Kingdom and to activate joint cooperation channels to ensure the effectiveness of deterrence and collective defense, support international security, and advance regional efforts aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace.

The cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s active role in regional and international organizations, praising national efforts that have contributed to Saudi Arabia’s regional leadership, marked by 21 cities certified as Healthy Cities by the World Health Organization. These cities have transformed their standards into institutional and developmental practices that place human well-being and quality of life as a priority and a central focus of sustainable development.

It added that the election of the Kingdom as chair of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development underscores its pioneering role in supporting joint Arab action and its ongoing contributions to developing human resources and improving the quality of services provided to member states, in line with desired objectives and aspirations.
