US Media: Defense Secretary Resigns from President Amid Disagreements with Defense Secretary

Washington, Aug 31 (KUNA) – U.S. media reported on Monday that U.S. Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump, following months of escalating disagreements with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The CNN news network, citing unnamed sources, confirmed that Driscoll had indeed submitted his resignation to President Trump, although the White House has not yet officially confirmed the reports. Earlier on Monday, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly praised Driscoll’s significant role in advancing President Trump’s agenda to “make America great again” within the Department of the Army. Kelly added that Driscoll had led “historic” military operations and refocused efforts on readiness and lethal capability, while also assisting in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, among other duties.
