France sends 10 tons of humanitarian aid to Colombia

Paris, August 31 (KUNA) -- The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that France had dispatched 10 tons of humanitarian aid to Colombia following the severe earthquake that struck the country on August 10, at the request of Colombian authorities. In a statement, the ministry said the emergency shipment arrived in Colombia on August 29 and included shelter supplies such as tents, kitchen equipment and utensils, floor mats, protective blankets, and water, hygiene, and sanitation equipment. The statement added that the humanitarian aid is intended to assist 200 affected families and will be handed over to Colombia’s National Disaster Risk Management Unit. It further clarified that the aid delivery operation was led by the Crisis and Support Center of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, with support from the European Union through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
