Kuwait Municipality: Decline in encroachments on state property attributed to heightened public awareness of regulations and laws

Kuwait City, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Municipality affirmed today that the significant decline in encroachments on state lands is due to heightened awareness among citizens and residents and their understanding of municipal bylaws and regulations.

Mohammed Al-Jalawi, a member of the central team at the Municipality Director General’s Office, praised the cooperation of citizens and residents with the municipality’s “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments” campaign, noting that the largest proportion of demolitions under the campaign were voluntary and carried out by or through them.

Al-Jalawi said in a statement to KUNA that the monitoring and demolition campaign continues daily in several governorates through field teams, expressing gratitude to government entities that have participated since the campaign’s launch, including the Ministries of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs.

He clarified that the campaign initially focused on removing the most prominent encroachments, such as erecting green fences around house setbacks and building diwaniyas on street sidewalks, which were among the most serious violations endangering neighbors and contributing to a rise in traffic accidents. He noted that violations in residential areas threatened pedestrian safety, obstructed visibility, and presented an uncivilized appearance.

Al-Jalawi emphasized that the municipality encourages citizens and residents to follow its official social media accounts to benefit from awareness messages and guidance that will be published regularly, and to contact the municipality to inquire about any regulatory requirements, thereby facilitating procedures and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
