Muscat, August 30 (KUNA) – The first round of the Omani Jandal League for football kicked off today, Sunday, amid expectations that the 14 participating clubs will vie for top positions and challenge Al-Seeb, the defending champions from last season. The opening round featured three matches held across different governorates. In one of them, the title holders, Al-Seeb, defeated Bahla 3-1, successfully launching their campaign to retain the crown. In another match, Al-Nasr beat Fanja 2-0, while Al-Nahda emerged victorious against Al-Musannah with a 1-0 scoreline. These matches opened the round, which will conclude tomorrow, Monday, with four additional fixtures: Dhofar vs. Oman, Samail vs. Suhar, Sur vs. Al-Shabab, and Sohar vs. Ibri. Coinciding with the start of the league competition, the Omani Football Association, in a joint press conference with the tournament sponsor, Jandal Steel Company, launched the “Our Stadium Brings Us Together” initiative. Aimed at boosting fan attendance in the new season, the initiative offers incentives and rewards for players, supporters, and all stakeholders in the football ecosystem, including awards for the best fan club and the best player of the round. It is worth noting that Dhofar is the most successful club in the Omani League, having won the title 11 times, followed by Fanja with nine titles.
