English League: Manchester United defeats Ipswich Town 5-2

London, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- Manchester United secured a convincing victory over newly promoted visitors Ipswich Town with a scoreline of five goals to two in their match today, Sunday, as part of the second round of the English Premier League.

The visitors took the lead in the 29th minute through English player Ewan Davis, but Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes equalized for the hosts five minutes before halftime.

Early in the second half, Ipswich defender Jacob Greaves scored an own goal 11 minutes into the period. Fernandes then added a third goal for United from a penalty kick in the 61st minute, followed by a fourth in the 68th minute. In the 82nd minute, Cameroon-born Brian Mbeumo scored United’s fifth goal, before English striker Chuba Akpom pulled one back for Ipswich in the first minute of stoppage time.

In other matches played today, Chelsea defeated Brighton 4-3, Sunderland beat Fulham 1-0, and Leeds United drew 1-1 with Brentford at home.

Chelsea sit third in the table with six points, followed by Brentford two points behind. Leeds United are seventh on goal difference, with Brighton three points behind them. Manchester United are tenth with three points, followed on goal difference by Sunderland and Ipswich Town respectively. Fulham remain bottom of the table in 16th place without any points.
