Kuwait City, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that the Urology Unit at Al-Amiri Hospital has received global accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Urologic Surgery from the American College of Surgeons (ACS), an organization specializing in evaluating and improving the quality and safety of surgical care.
In a press release, the ministry stated that the accreditation reflects international recognition of the Urology Unit’s competence and excellence at Al-Amiri Hospital, and confirms its compliance with the standards and requirements set by the ACS in the areas of care quality, patient safety, and surgical practice efficiency, thereby enhancing its standing among leading health centers in this specialty.
According to the statement, Dr. Areej Al-Kandari, Director of Al-Amiri Hospital, said that obtaining this accreditation is the result of comprehensive efforts by the hospital’s medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff, and reflects a continuous commitment to developing service quality and improving performance. She added that international accreditations serve as an incentive to continue development and maintain the highest levels of quality and safety in healthcare provided to patients.
For his part, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Turki, Head of the Urology Unit, emphasized that achieving the “Center of Excellence” designation was the outcome of sustained work to implement evidence-based medical practices, develop protocols and care pathways, and monitor quality indicators and clinical outcomes, alongside a focus on continuous education and training. These efforts contribute to providing comprehensive, safe, and effective care for urology patients.
Al-Turki added that this achievement caps the unit’s commitment to applying the highest standards of quality and patient safety, strengthening the continuous improvement system, and developing specialized practices and services in line with global standards.
The ministry clarified that the accreditation reflects its direction toward supporting healthcare facilities and teams in adopting quality and institutional excellence standards, and enhancing the presence of Kuwaiti health institutions within the framework of international accreditations. This aligns with rapid developments in healthcare and aims to elevate the level of services provided to patients. (End) M.N.M./H.A.
