European Union: Committed to supporting and assisting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region

Erbil, Aug 30 (KUNA) – The European Union’s ambassador to Iraq, Clemens Smetner, reaffirmed on Sunday the EU’s commitment to supporting and assisting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Presidency said in a statement that this came during a meeting between the ambassador and KRG President Nechirvan Barzani, during which he expressed the KRG’s gratitude and appreciation for the European Union’s role and its ongoing support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. For his part, Smetner, according to the statement, affirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting and assisting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, while looking forward to strengthening relations and continuing its assistance in all fields.
