Occupation authorities announce seizure of 37 dunams in Ramallah Governorate to expand a military site

Ramallah, August 30 (KUNA) -- Israeli occupation authorities issued an order to seize 37 dunams of land in the city of Beitunia, in the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate, with the aim of expanding the military site established on the city’s lands. The Resistance Wall and Settlements Committee said in a press statement on Sunday that the military order covers a number of land parcels and the roads between them, and military maps show that the targeted area forms a contiguous landmass connected to the existing military site and located near the Horon settlement, which was built on lands in the governorate. The committee stressed that “although seizure orders do not formally transfer land ownership, they strip owners of their right to possession and cultivation and place the land under direct military control.” It added that this order reveals an expansion of the military infrastructure linked to protecting settlements and securing their surroundings, imposing spatial and “security” costs on Palestinian lands and their owners to sustain and expand the settlement project.
