Secretaries-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Gulf Cooperation Council discuss ways to enhance bilateral partnership and coordination

Jeddah, August 29 (KUNA) — The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Bedaiwi, held talks today on Saturday to explore ways to enhance bilateral partnership and coordination between the OIC and the GCC. The OIC Secretariat said in a statement that the discussion took place during a phone call received by Ould Cheikh from Al-Bedaiwi. The statement added that Al-Bedaiwi conveyed his warmest congratulations to Ould Cheikh on his election as OIC Secretary-General, expressing his best wishes for his success and prosperity in leading joint Islamic efforts in the coming period. He reaffirmed the GCC’s commitment to providing all forms of support to the new OIC Secretary-General and backing initiatives aimed at continuing the path of cooperation and solidarity. For his part, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the GCC Secretary-General, praising the pivotal role of GCC member states in supporting the OIC’s initiatives.
