Investment Promotion: Oman Offers Five Investment Opportunities in Dhofar Worth $5 Billion
Muscat, Aug 29 (KUNA) – The Omani Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion announced on Saturday the launch of five investment opportunities in the Dhofar Governorate in the south of the Sultanate, with a total value of approximately 1.95 billion Omani rials (around five billion US dollars), including the “Future City of Salalah” project. According to the “Invest in Oman” platform – the government’s investment destination in the Sultanate – the opportunities encompass diverse projects in urban development, real estate development, and eco-tourism and marine tourism in Dhofar, in cooperation and coordination with relevant government entities.
The “Future City of Salalah” project, in collaboration with the Omani Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, is the largest in terms of investment value among the five opportunities, with a total value of 1.9 billion rials (4.96 billion dollars) and covering an area of up to 10 square kilometers. In describing the project, the platform stated that it is based on developing an integrated urban plan that combines residential, commercial, health, educational, recreational, and hospitality uses, thereby providing multiple investment opportunities for the private sector, supporting urban and economic growth, and contributing to enhancing the quality of life in Dhofar Governorate.
Regarding the other proposed opportunities, they include “Razdah Plains,” an integrated urban project located in the Atyn area of Salalah Wilayat, spanning an area of approximately 470,000 square meters with an estimated investment value of 40 million rials (around 105 million dollars). The project aims to develop a comprehensive destination featuring hospitality, retail, recreation, and business facilities, alongside public spaces and amenities.
In the field of eco-tourism and biodiversity conservation, the platform presents the opportunity for the Botanical Memory Garden in the Razat plain. Covering an area of approximately 1.5 million square meters, the project has an estimated investment value of four million rials (around 10.5 million dollars). It combines the conservation of rare and endangered plant species with scientific research, education, and eco-tourism.
The proposed opportunities also include the “Eco-Lodge” and visitor center in the Khour Sanqat area of Sadah Wilayat. Spanning an area of approximately 47,000 square meters, the project has an estimated investment value of 3.9 million rials (around 10 million dollars). It features an eco-lodge, a visitor center, health experiences, and various outdoor activities, alongside sustainable solutions such as renewable energy use and low-impact environmental systems.
In the marine tourism sector, the platform presented the Diving Club project in the Hallaniyat Islands. Covering an area of approximately 5,000 square meters, the project has an estimated investment value of 1.5 million rials (around four million dollars). It aims to develop a specialized destination for diving tourism and marine activities, including facilities for diving instruction, equipment rental, and boat trips, alongside eco-friendly accommodation facilities.
Dhofar Governorate, located in the far south of the Sultanate of Oman with its capital in Salalah, boasts coastal sites and waterfronts, natural reserves, biodiversity, and unique natural environments, in addition to its rich tourism and urban infrastructure assets.
The “Invest in Oman” platform serves as the government’s investment destination in the Sultanate of Oman, specializing in introducing investors to investment opportunities, their key data, sectors, and potential, thereby facilitating access to suitable investment prospects. (End) M.J.B / N.S.A
