Kuwait Bowling Team Wins Gold, Silver, and Bronze at the Asian Junior Championship in Indonesia

Kuwait City, August 29 (KUNA) – The Kuwaiti junior bowling team secured three medals at the 25th Asian Junior Championships held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. The tournament, which began on August 23 and concluded on Saturday, featured participation from 15 countries. The medals won were gold in the Junior Girls Masters event, silver in the Junior Girls Individual event, and bronze in the Junior Boys Doubles event.

Iyad Al-Omairi, coach of the Kuwaiti national bowling team, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwaiti player Sharifa Iskandar achieved a remarkable and unprecedented feat in women’s bowling participation among Gulf and Arab countries, by winning the gold medal and first place in the Junior Girls Masters category, in addition to securing the silver medal in the Individual event at the same championship.

He added that in the Junior Boys Doubles event, Kuwaiti national team players Hussain Qasim and Fahd Al-Saqabi won the bronze medal, further strengthening Kuwait’s presence on the podium at the championship, which saw 12 players and players representing the Kuwaiti junior national team, comprising eight male and four female athletes.

He noted that the Kuwaiti team finished fourth in the overall standings of the championship, a result reflecting the advanced level displayed by the players across various competitions and underscoring the development of bowling in Kuwait across age categories.

He pointed out that this achievement is the result of efforts made by the Kuwait Bowling Federation in preparing, training, and providing suitable conditions for players to participate in continental and international tournaments, contributing to the continued attainment of honorable results and raising Kuwait’s name in sporting arenas.
