Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs: Referral of allegations of harm to public funds in the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities to the Public Prosecution

Kuwait City, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, announced on Saturday the referral of allegations and suspicions concerning damage to public funds at the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities to the Public Prosecution, to take the necessary legal actions against a number of officials and employees.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Minister Al-Huwail said this referral is the second within two weeks and comes as part of the continued approach of oversight, accountability, and protection of public funds.
She explained that the referral followed the findings of an investigation committee into violations related to maintenance works and contracts, as well as the disbursement of amounts for quantities and works that were found not to have been fully implemented in kind. The value of the damage under investigation was estimated at approximately 1.211 million Kuwaiti dinars (about 3.95 million US dollars).
Minister Al-Huwail stressed that protecting public funds is a responsibility that allows for no leniency, affirming that all violations carrying criminal suspicion will follow their legal course, with necessary administrative and legal measures taken, and efforts made to recover any amounts disbursed without justification and to safeguard the rights of the Authority and public funds.
She emphasized that accountability will extend to anyone proven to be negligent or responsible, regardless of their position, without exception, and that oversight will continue to ensure integrity and proper management of public funds. (End) A.Y.S. / N.W.F
