Iraq welcomes the integration of (SDF) into Syrian state institutions

Baghdad, August 28 (KUNA) -- Iraq welcomed on Friday the positive outcomes of the talks between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which culminated in the integration of those forces into Syrian state institutions. The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this step, along with other steps in this vein, represents a significant development in the process of enhancing Syria’s stability and reinforcing its sovereignty, thereby contributing to broadening political participation and realizing the Syrian people’s aspirations for security, peace, and stability. The ministry reaffirmed Iraq’s support for all efforts aimed at strengthening Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, ensuring that Syrian state institutions serve as an inclusive framework for all components of the Syrian people. Meanwhile, SDF commander Mazloum Abdi announced at a press conference held in Damascus last Tuesday the conclusion of the forces’ mission and their dissolution as an independent military entity, following the completion of their integration into Syrian army brigades.
