The Digital Cooperation Organization Council Approves the Adoption of Nominations of Eight New Countries to Join the Organization

Riyadh, August 28 (KUNA) -- The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) announced on Friday that its Council had approved the nomination of eight new countries for full membership, a move that will expand its membership from 16 to 24 countries once accession procedures are completed, representing a combined population of approximately 980 million people.

In a statement, the organization, which is the first independent international body dedicated to accelerating inclusive and sustainable digital economic growth, confirmed that Albania, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Zambia will join as member states upon completion of the formal procedures, namely the signing, adoption, and ratification of the DCO Charter in accordance with the procedures applicable in each country.

The statement further noted that the DCO is also expected to welcome Tajikistan as an associate member, opening up new opportunities to enhance digital cooperation, leverage public-private partnerships, and collaborate on initiatives aimed at boosting digital innovation, skills, and inclusion, in line with Tajikistan’s national development strategy up to 2030.
