Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Discusses Regional Developments with Saudi and Turkish Foreign Ministers

Islamabad, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar held talks today, Friday, with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on regional developments.

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Dar made a phone call to his Saudi counterpart, congratulating him on the election of former Mauritanian Foreign Minister Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed as the new Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The statement added that the two ministers exchanged views on regional developments and issues of mutual interest, including the upcoming meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries (4R), namely Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan, and agreed to continue coordination and close communication.

For its part, the statement noted that Dar also made a phone call to the Turkish Foreign Minister to discuss regional developments and exchange views on issues of mutual interest. It pointed out that the two sides also discussed upcoming engagements, including the anticipated meeting of the 4R foreign ministers.

It is worth noting that the 4R group was established in March of this year as a diplomatic mechanism aimed at containing Iranian tensions and aggression in the region, as well as supporting de-escalation efforts between the United States and Iran. (End) S.B.K / A.M.S
