Egypt: Necessity of a Sudanese political process without external interference

Cairo, Aug 28 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart, Mohi ad-Din Salem, stressed the necessity of a “Sudanese-owned political process free from external interference,” which would contribute to resolving the crisis and restoring security and stability in Sudan. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement on Friday that Minister Abdelatty reiterated during a telephone call with his Sudanese counterpart Egypt’s support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions. The statement noted that the two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Horn of Africa region and the security of the Red Sea, emphasizing the importance of enhancing coordination among coastal states. They also underscored the need to safeguard the security and safety of maritime navigation and to support efforts aimed at consolidating peace, security, and stability in the Horn of Africa region, in a manner that protects the interests of the countries and peoples of the region.
