WHO: 106 patients evacuated from Gaza Strip last week

Geneva, August 28 (KUNA) -- WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced on Friday that the organization evacuated 106 patients from the Gaza Strip last week, including 19 children, along with 132 caregivers, through the Rafah and Kerem Abu Salim crossings.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Ghebreyesus stated that the total number of patients medically evacuated from Gaza since October 2023 has reached 13,237, including 6,276 children, as well as 16,406 caregivers.
He emphasized that thousands of other patients are still awaiting medical evacuation, stressing that these operations provide those in urgent need of healthcare with a chance to survive.
The WHO Director-General reaffirmed that ensuring patients receive timely treatment requires continued access to Gaza through multiple crossings, enabling regular and timely medical evacuations. (End) A.M.Kh./T.M.A
